Where Im From
I’m from an 8x10 corner in my basement,
From the mat and holes across the wall
From a constant battle with cauliflower ear
And an Arrowhead wrestling legacy of 35 years,
I’m from summers of shirts vs. skins
From 80 degree days in an open backyard
From Florida State vs. Notre Dame to Cubs vs. Brewers,
And a wrestlers interpretation of basketball, with no rules
I’m from the letter “A”
From a frustrated dad and confused teachers
From “Aaron, I mean Ada...Aust, Ar…ALEX!!”
And my 5 brothers that share that letter
I’m from a tree, strong and sturdy
From the letters Y D E carved in its side
From its roots in Arrowhead since my grandpa became principle
And branches like me, which will continue to grow
