Cacophony of Light
If you stand at the right angle
life will taste bright like the sun.
It will illuminate your skin,
like wax paper to a light bulb
and expose the ideals tangled in your blood.
In silence and light
life will taste bitter and sweet
as if what was behind those curtains
could be washed away with rain
and resurface new and pure.
And if you dig your ditch deep enough,
and burrow away from the squawky, artificial city lights,
you will hear the clicking of tallies
marking each breath,
keeping a record of your life
and the value it leaves behind.
