Fake Roses
A vase of fake roses
To remind me of my first love
All the happiness shared and
Warm summer days spent together
Love letters written by moonlight
Promises that now are gone
Future plans that never will be
Poetry that no longer has meaning
Songs that no longer are heard
Hands that can’t grasp
The bitter reality
Of a once blissful fantasy
Two different paths
One possibly leading to a grave
Eternity doesn’t seem long anymore
Maybe our love just wasn’t meant to be
I guess the affection we shared was
As fake as the roses
That sit alone in a vase
To remind me of our past
And the present that we don’t share
