I never expected to be treated differently
Especially not by you
All other guys had abused my trust
But you treated me like a princess
I had all I ever wanted
As I lay in your arms
But then I found out
That nothing stays gold forever
And like gold love will tarnish
And then be forgotten
To be thrown in the back of a closet
But somewhere down the road
The closet will be cleaned out
And once again our love shall flourish
Because gold can be cleaned
And love can be renewed
