Suspended

Sand beneath my toes
cold and wet
the waves wash over my clothes
the wind whips through my hair
I turn around
I spin
It's freezing
but it keeps me suspended
between time and space
between love and hate
I want to leave, I want to stay
Too hot in the sun, too cold in the water
my insides tingle
as my heart beats in my chest
this feeling
of being suspended
my feet are firmly on the ground
yet my mind is flying
soaring
back to my yesterdays
