Freedom
As the sun went down on the shore
You watched the birds take flight.
With a sound like a fog horn
They rose into the air.
They never questioned their decision.
They didn’t dive back down
Into the water.
They simply formed a perfect V and flew off.
You could see that this
Is what they were born to do.
To fly.
To be free.
You knew nothing would change.
Those birds would always fly,
And there was nothing you could do
About it.
And once the birds were out of sight,
You left too.
It’s not just them who are free anymore.
