For the Years I Spent With You
For the years I spent with you, I've learned to love myself. Before, I used to think that life was nothing but a joke, but now I've come to understand that somebody out there really cared,
There were many times I thought I wasn't going to make it, but you helped me,
There was a time when I fell to the ground and no one was there to help me, but you did,
There was a time when no one was there in my time of need, but you were,
There was also a time when dad never showed up after promising that he was going to spend the day with me, you were there to dry my eye's,
and when my birthday came and no one picked up the phone to wish me Happy Birthday, you told me it will be okay,
And when you thought your sister was your friend and thought no one cared about the way you felt, I did, I cared, and I was there.
