Birds
I like to see a little bird
hop down the garden path
and wait quite still to watch it peck
its dinner in the grass.
I like to watch the tiny wings
twitch quickly as it goes,
as if in want of some stray breeze
to take it in its blows.
But tiny birds can't keep content
with wings and winds and worms.
They have to chirp and as for me,
I hate to hear the song.
