Get Out Before You Get In
Teenage babies, you’re so absurd
Conforming to their every word
Do this one day, something else the next
Never stopping to question, never thinking to ask
It’s what everyone’s doing, it must be right
Even if it makes you cry at night
Do your makeup, fix your hair
No matter what, no one will care
As long as you look just like them
As long as you’re pretty, as long as you blend
Don’t stand out and you’ll be okay
You have to be willing to give your heart away
You can’t afford to be yourself when it’s all you’ve got
Surrender your soul for something store-bought
Paint you nails, pierce your ears
Then cry if you must, but no one will hear
Wipe your eyes before they see
But if you never give in, you’ll never be free
If you be yourself you’ll pay the price
But it’s better than living in a world of fake-nice
Wear what you want, say what you feel
Any wound they inflict will eventually heal
