You Chose
You chose others over yourself,
And I respect that.
You chose being bold over average,
And I admire that.
You chose guns over books,
And I worry for that.
You chose freedom and liberty over unjust treatment,
And I thank you for that.
You chose shaved over shaggy hair,
And I can handle that.
You chose combat boots over work boots,
And I question that.
You chose the Chosen Company over friends,
And I can accept that.
You chose a Band of Brothers over family,
And I can adjust to that.
You chose your wings over the ground,
And I’m proud of you for that.
You chose a battlefield of bullets and haze over a field of golden kernels,
And I compliment you for that.
You chose blood soaked grounds over fertile soil,
And I fear that.
When you were asked what you wanted to be,
You knew exactly what you were meant to be,
Because God declared it was exactly what was supposed to be.
