Next Season
My love for you changes as seasons change,
In summer my passion was hot and strong;
Went everywhere and didn’t think it strange
That two so unlike got so well along.
When fall arrived I hoped to keep you ‘round,
But as leaves changéd so did your appeal.
So sad it was that love should run aground,
And ardor was so sharply brought to heel.
At winter’s coming snow smothered the joy
That once had been felt when we were a pair.
When we started you were more than a boy;
The air blew cold just like our short affair.
Soon spring will come with all its vibrant hues,
So I can love again my high heeled shoes.
