Let Go
I walk down the pavement
My eyes gaze at the sky
A mist comes along
Holds my eyes to the sky
The mist of hopes and dreams
Of faith and of love
I hold my gaze at the sky
Then it all disappears
Washes away, like a blanket of dark,
The bright bold blue, and the mist of hope
Taken over
By the blanket of dark
My gaze at the sky
Withers and falls
Like a delicate red rose
Alone in the dark
I walk down the pavement
Hold my head high
As the memories flow back in
Straight from the sky
The memories of broken hearts
and crushed dreams
They pulse through my veins
Like people mocking me
The beat of my feet running
Rushes through my ears
Echoes of darkness wash over me
As I hold my head high
Trying to forget all that would make me cry
I trip and fall
I’m sprawled on the ground
I lift my head up
And I finally let go
Tears rolling down my cheeks and splashing
Into the depths of the black
The moon glimmers bright gold
The light shines onto the road
As I lift my head up
And I let go of you
