The Diamond and the Rhinestone
I am a diamond.
 You cannot break me.
 I am stronger than
 you'll ever be,
 tougher to crack
 than even the sturdiest
 of metals.

 I am a rhinestone.
 You can destroy me.
 I am weaker than
 you'd ever imagine.
 Close your palm around me
 and I'll break
 into a million pieces.

 I am a diamond.
 I am dazzling.
 More beautiful than
 you'll ever be.
 Something you may wear
 to make yourself
 appear lovely and wealthy,
 when we all know
 that I'm the real splendor.

 I am a rhinestone.
 I am fake.
 An imitation
 of startling beauty.
 Something you may wear
 to make yourself
 appear stunning and attractive
 when we all know
 I'm just a cheap knock-off.

 I am a diamond.
 Too expensive
 for your unworthy eyes.
 Do not touch,
 for you are aware
 that your meager paycheck
 will never cover
 my cost.

 I am a rhinestone.
 Too cheap
to be seen as a beauty.
 Please take me,
 for the most worthless
 of paper bills
is enough to provide a home
 for hundreds of me.
