Perfect Imperfections
Looking into your eyes I see,
Strands that color them beautiful,
Stopping me, stealing my breath,
As I hang from your lips…captivated.
Like emeralds reflecting in the sunlight windows,
Seducing me, calling my name, becoming my drug.
With no desire for rehabilitation,
They dress up the trappings of love.
Replacing the gallows of heartache
That once hung from above,
My life has been completed,
Because of your love.
Your inexplicable beauty,
Is comparable to polished diamonds,
Shining amongst the radiant light,
Stealing the breath from my lungs.
Like a thief in the night,
You stole my heart,
During true loves first kiss,
Never to return it again.
When you smile you don’t realize it,
The corners of your mouth wrinkle,
And so the corners of your eyes,
Your nose crinkles and your nostrils flare.
These things I hold dear,
These things make you, you,
These imperfections are what make you perfect,
These things are what make you, beautiful.
I don’t care of societies view on beauty,
Its twisted, wrong, and askew.
None of it matters to me,
Because you are MY definition of beauty.
I don’t care about the scars you have,
I don’t care how much you weigh,
I don’t care about your nose, your teeth, or your ears,
I love you simply because you are you.
If today were opposite day,
It’d be easy to say why I love you,
Because all the things you despise about yourself,
Are the things I love you most for.
So now you shouldn’t be afraid,
When you see us in a mirror,
Because perfection has NO explanation,
But in the definition of perfection, you were born.
