My Cuban Grandmother's Bible

She Held Me With Beloved Hands
Caressing My Worn Textured Body

Within Her Lies Commiseration
Death Of Late Husband Remembered
Bonding Me To Her, Pages Unfolding
Worn From Use, Dismantling Her Fears

Leaving Them In The Sands Of Time

Praying With Me, A Majestic Sunset Spreads Wide With Colors
We Gaze Across The Seasons As We Grow Old Together In Love

Time Stands Still Parting Us From Our Beloved, Alone
Wrinkles And Gravity Tear At Our Body, Old And Torn
Foreboding Age, An Image Sadly Displeasing To Man
She Leaves me One Cold Night As I Lay Beside Her

Snuggled Tight And Warm In Her Ancient Bed

Calling The Names Of Her Loved Ones
And The One Who Swayed Her To Good

Her Spirit Rises From Her Cadaver Body
Which Lies White Against The Gates Of Heaven
Century Passes, Locked In A Bookcase Missing Her
Wanting To Hear Her Voice And To Call My Name

"Book Of Testaments, Dear Friend, Come To Me!"

Very Touching!

I could see my Grandmother and at the same time see the author's Grandmother

and her longing to see her mate.
