I can hear their heartbeats
We're all so squished together
In one big circle
All gathered in the gym
It's 8:42 AM
The donut box has dents
Fluorescent lights graze us brightly
I sit quietly
(or maybe not so quietly)
David si next to me
(Right now we bickering-
Hey, we're siblings)
My friends are all squeezed together
All around me
Like a big balloon
A big, beautiful, protecting balloon
They ask me to pray
I do
With my mouth I spread God's light
With my heart
I bless every one of them for blessing everyone they meet
Especially for blessing me.
