Heartbroken
I’ve often played the heartbreaker roll
And walked away feeling nothing but relief
But now, as I sit here, numb and shaking
I realize the terrible feelings I’ve missed
One word can change a life
At one time, my world revolved around you
Everything I did was to please you, to impress you
But with a single word
The poison seeped into my veins
Leaving my heart cold and dead
Or at least colder and deader than before, since
I’ve never been much of a lover
Was it my fault you said no?
Was I too strange, too different?
It’s too late now to change my ways
I’m not angry with you, just disappointed
That you never loved me in the first place
That I made a fool of myself over you
I suppose it’s not your fault
But mine, for opening my heart to anyone
But my friends and family
Goodbye, my love
