Without You
i have never felt so alone
since you have left, in your place
loneliness has grown
it taunts me with wishes
and whispers in my ear
tells me i am broken
leaving me with cold tired tears
without you i am a puzzle
missing an entire part
making it hard to see my picture
difficult to understand what lies inside my heart
i am happy for you, but i am sad without you
i am hoping you miss me, and i pray you remember i love you
when you return the puzzle will be complete
but until then, without you
my mind and emotions will constantly compete
only always ending up
lying next to defeat

This piece is telling a story about how I’m feeling and what I’m going through after my older sister has left for the military. It’s about how my mentality is breaking down and my emotions are all over the place, and will continue to be until my sister comes home. I am unfamiliar with life without her. I have never gone more than one day without my sister and so the poem portrays my emotions and what I’m feeling without her.
