"Numquam finitur, donec vita finiatur."
- K. D'Angelo Alexander

I am greater than my worst days,

I have learn from my mistakes;

Have slowly learned to change my ways

Now I know what is at stake:

A future where I can be free

Of the things that burdened me

People, places, and memories

Of the man I used to be

Now when I look into the mirror

I smile, as I don’t fear

Ever having to feel the pains;

I rejoice in what I’ve gained

A resurrection from the days

When I always had to pray

That I wouldn’t end up like him,

Spending life in a prison

I know now that I’ll do great things,

That is without exception

Exempted from past wrongdoings

As I rise to Redemption

The author's comments:

This is somewhat of a self-assurance poem, reminding myself that what is in the past has passed, and that I have complete control over my future. It is also in some way a literary manifestation of achieving redemption from a life of unfortunate circumstances, and poor decisions. I feel that everyone aspires to find redemption, and meaning from the negative or unpleasant experiences they have undergone. And I pray that each and every one of us is able to attain it.
