That Smile
I know that smile
The one I’ve seen so many times before
Wondering if the world is worthwhile
That says you can’t do this anymore
The ever thinning scarlet veil
Between you and reality
Hiding your gruesome tale
With a false sense of normality
The one that conceals the hurt
That piercing pain of trampled dreams
Crushed, broken, and left in the dirt
As your soul begins to tear at the seams
I know that smile
The one I’ve worn so many times before
Wondering if my world is worthwhile
That says I can’t do this anymore
