Masks
Wearing masks for life,
do you ever see what I feel?
We laugh on the outside,
and die on the in.
Do you see what I do?
I see the horrors of the day.
The wars of death, destruction and decay.
Do you see what they do?
They see the wonders of this life.
The brightest smiles,
the beauty of flowers,
the music of laughter.
I see nothing but lies.
I see the tightness of that smile,
the wilting of those flowers,
the darkness in that laughter.
I will not accept these lies,
that they feed us like drugs on the sly.
Tell me dear do you see it?
Pull at the mask of lies,
Take it from our eyes.
Let us see who we really are.
We are dead before our birth,
wearing our masks for life.
