Dimming of the Flame
The clock winds down,
Until it’ll all be over.
My smile falls to a frown,
Unleashing tears I can not cover.
Memories flash in my mind,
Of all I’ve done over the years.
I never thought I’d find
All of my hidden fears.
The loss of what I love,
A passion I’ve always known.
But I’ll always think of
How I didn’t get here alone.
Without support I wouldn’t be
Playing in this final game.
They’ve helped me to see
To not hang my head in shame.
My time now has ran out,
As hard as it is to admit.
Yet there isn’t a doubt
That my performance I am content.
I’ll never forget any of it,
No matter where I go.
Despite hearing that hypocrite,
Defeat I’d never show.
Fear fills me now,
Of what I leave behind.
I’ll always remember how
My teammates were so kind.
Sadness will again shadow me,
As that date grows near.
But before that I’ll be
Filled with everlasting cheer.
