Hard Shells
It would be fun to socialize,
to look straight into a stranger's eyes,
and read their reasons on why they survive.
It would be lovely to learn something new.
To read an entire book published before 1942,
and read their reasons on why they'd survive.
It would be delightful to dig my feet under sand.
To feel the warmth, a moment so grand.
And read my own mind on why I've survived.
It will be difficult to get through to this man.
His soul so simple and sweet, if he could understand
my will to hear his reasons of carrying on,
well, maybe they'll be my reason to add another one.
