I’ve tried to write satire,
and all kinds of song
but every line I write and its rhythm
just don’t get along.

I’ve attempted short stories
of fiction and fact
and even those kind
more lacking in tact.

Incidentally, too,
I’ve worn out my wrist
on playwriting, limericks–
well, you get the gist.

For some reason, though
I just can’t write
even during the more
inspirational times of night.

Now that I think on it,
it’s not only my writing pens,
for I am quite hopeless
when it comes to all sorts of common sense.

So if you’ve any idea
where creativity’s gone
just give me a call–
but wait; I can’t use a phone…
