I left Her With The Sea
What was that thing that hit the boat?
That made the crashing sound,
The boat is sinking under me,
I have to turn around.
People are screaming everywhere,
I can't hear myself think.
People around me are insane,
I may be on the brink.
The time is ticking by so fast,
I can't find my sister.
I go to look for her on deck,
While these shoes give me blisters.
I sit down to rub my hurt feet,
People are running now.
Anyone in their path struck,
They must be scared somehow.
The boats are ready for us now,
But I won't let her die.
She is somewhere in that boat,
I just can't say goodbye.
Her heart was sweet as the ocean,
Her laugh was pure as rain.
Why did she not find a way out,
I can not explain.
My mother gently weeps with me.
We leave her to the sea.
We watch the boat slowly sinking,
Why couldn't it be me.
I hate to think that I left her,
I left her with no words,
This was meant to be a long song,
But I couldn't find any songbirds.
So I'll leave her here to perish,
Her soul is still alive,
This poem is in her memory,
This story will always survive.
