I walked to heaven’s gate today
among the skies so blue
with angels lurking here and there
waiting for someone new

I looked around for other souls
but the sky was empty so
i made my way to heaven’s gate
following the angels’ glow

when i reached, the angels all
blocked the gate in view
i boldly looked ahead and asked
please may i pass through?

You think it’s so easy then?
their voices echoed in my ears
how about you tell us what you did
all those earthly years?

I never skipped a day of school
and always helped the poor
I was happy with what i had
and never asked for more

so you deserve the life, they asked
beyond this eternal gate?
since you lived and liked and loved
heaven becomes your fate?

oh, no, it’s not so easy, child
you can’t just walk right by
have you forgetten what man is like?
they said with fiery eyes

I shook with fear but simply said
I know that man is wild
how is it though my fault at all?
i am just a child

But if your time had not come
and you still walked the earth
you too would be just like those
who raised and gave you birth

they care for only looks and gold
and kill their fellow beings
they cheat their friends and foes alike
and bomb those peaceful fields

they have no shame and honor left
like men used to have before
so why’d you think that heaven
has place for man anymore?

I closed my eyes in silence
my soul was now at stake
and I would have to suffer
for other men’s mistakes

I'm glad that not everyone believes in happy endings. Very nice and different to see a non forgiving side to heaven. 5 stars and please check out at least one of my poems please.
