Condemned
Pavement bleached as white as bone
  By countless angry rains
An abandoned chocolate ice cream cone
  Coloring the concrete with stains
A shopping cart rolls fast away
  Baby seat rusted shut
  A driver's license, here to stay -
Glued to the ground with gum
  A line of stores
  With boarded doors
  And hundreds of empty shelves
  A family of bugs
  Chews through the plugs
  Like ugly destructive elves
At dawn a line of bulldozers
Will come and knock it down
  As if it never happened
As though it had never stood proud
And one day a man might walk there
And never known it had stood
He would never know, and never care
  He never ever would
