The Ballad of You
You throw all of your life away,
Drop everything and day by day,
Slowly slip into the mainstream.
“You did the right thing” is what they say.
You wish you would’ve followed dreams,
Maybe if you had,your life would’ve been
Exciting. And you wonder if
Prestige and relevance is what it seems;
Pertinent,that is,.But now you wish
For imagination like a kid.
For innocence and naivety
That you lose when the world forbids
The mindset you own.”It’s too unique,
it challenges everything we teach.”
And while creativity is not a sin,
You quit yourself and the world that could be.
