From the Corner of my Eye
From the corner of my eye
I watch
Afraid to turn around
I watch
I watch them cast lies upon us
As they glare
With their piercing eyes
My back burns
Starts to wither
I try to think about something else
I imagine her
No, I see her
She stands tall and proud
She gives them one look
Her back doesn’t burn it shines
She, no
I
I know what I have to do
From the corner of my eye
No, from both eyes
I stare right back at them
As I step closer
They take a step back
Turn around
And walk away
