Chrysanthemums
I once dreamed of a life filled with chrysanthemums,
The golden flower a symbol of our happiness,
Our love,
And our perfect life,
But now, the chrysanthemums have withered away,
They no longer have their joyful glow,
They no longer sing,
Of what used to be.
Echoes of our laughter,
Have turned to silence,
Except for the quiet creeping of my shadows,
And the sound of our house groaning.
The darkness covers me,
My loneliness comforts me,
Fear takes over,
And my anxiety pokes,
One day, I will grow to fight these shadows,
I will rise above the silver lining,
As I think of our love, our happiness,
And you..
My love…
Come back to me..
I haven’t been the same.
Since the day the shadows took you away.

I used the chrysanthemums to represent joy/happiness or perfection. The silver lining represents hope and optimism. The chrysantemums wilting/withering away implies that the happiness that used to be there no longer exists.
