Isolated
A dark cavernous room houses a young girl
A girl told she wasn’t good enough
A girl told she was useless
A girl told she was worthless
A girl told she was unwanted
Everyday haunted by the voice that spoke those very words
She sits tucked away in the corner against cement walls
The coldness of the grey washed concrete sending chills up and down her spine
Tears falling to the floor and splashing in her own lake
Just like the rocks she used to skip across the river
Whilst thoughts of being submerged in the frigid water brought peace
The flow of the crisp water encapsulating her body
Her fear stricken face relaxed as the light faded out of sight
With a blank mind full of thoughts she sat at the water’s edge
Waiting for the light of the moon to call her home
Each step within the confined space of the walls pulls them one foot closer together
As she’s trapped in the nooks and crannies of her mind
She looks through the two way mirror
Seeing all the people that don’t see her
