to the girl who left too soon
Her life seemed full
of love, laughter, formidable talents
A true blessing, God’s Grace at work
Her colossal dreams so rich--
extensive, intricate roads yet to be traveled
All within her reach
She yearned to grasp
that sweet reward of the hours she spent
working her body, her soul, her mind--
enervating the vitality that once enveloped her beautiful character
So achingly exhausted, her wings weary and fragile
Perhaps she needed that lift
to awaken her from what became a nightmare,
a trench of darkness, the agonizing shattering of
unattainable dreams, broken self-worth
all hidden behind a contagious smile
Perhaps she needed that lift
to fly away from the screams and inexplicable cries of despair
that drowned her, engulfed her
Perhaps all she truly wanted
was to go Home.
