2020 Graduation
I graduated in 2020
When the first death by COVID-19 in the country happened
five minutes from my house
When we had to wash our hands after PE class
I graduated in 2020
People scared of the unseen
And kids bringing the virus home.
Increase in death rates
I graduated in 2020
Masks and lockdown
One week of break from school
turning into one year
I graduated in 2020
Online school
6 feet apart, no socializing
Locked inside our homes
I graduated in 2020
No senior sunset
Online graduation
No senior prom
Empty supermarkets
Rivalry on the streets
The unlucky class shall be known forever
For 2020 was the year I graduated

I have written this piece right after my high school graduation in 2020. I was very frustrated with everything that had happened and putting it down on a piece of paper was the best thing I could ever do to feel better.
My senior year was not as I planned it to be, but all my years in high school were worth it. :)
