I'm Not Making This Easy
Mr. Wolf, I heard that
You have a habit of carting off girls
Whose mothers are away
And devouring them
If so, make it quick
But know you’re not the only one
Who’s fierce and slick
Said the youngest one
To the Big Bad Wolf:
I’m a sister’s keeper
And no one’s fool
In spite of your claws and teeth
If you set one foot inside this house
You will taste a very painful execution
On a very empty stomach
I may be slight
And on the small side
But I have brains
To match my sisters’ frames
And we’re not letting each either go
And today is not your day to win
And if our hearts beat all the faster for fear
They beat all the stronger for bravery
And we will eat YOU for dinner
Tie you into knots
Before I bare my teeth
For a final snarl
SO BEWARE, WOLF

I grew up with the story of the wolf and the three goats, which is much like the story of the 3 little pigs. That story always empowered me in a way. The youngest sister, who eventually outsmarts the wolf, must have been really scared. But she didn't let that get in the way. She took charge and had hope, and because of that, her sisters did the same. The Big Bad Wolf doesn't always have to win.
