Big Man
Punches comin’ at me
I’m facin’ big man Ali
Not only strong, they’re fast
Faster than I can react
Real fast.
Don’t know how much longer I’ll last
Two black eyes, broken nose, frail ribcage
What’s around me is startin’ to fade
Hey, I’m still in the ring at least
Some people have left before they
Started bleedin’.
Heck, my heart could be pulled out
For all I care
The only way the Big Man
Can make me give in is a knockout
Simple, eh?
I got my forearms barricading
My face
I know that if I throw out my fist
Big Man’ll throw one back too hard
To resist.
But now everything’s fadin’ ‘round me
It’s too late to flee,
Isn’t it?
Can that sense of being free,
Lifeless, empty, save me?
Save me from that dreaded knockout,
Big Man’s knockout.

This piece was inspired by all heavy obstacles in life that I have have to face, and that many others do too. Sometimes it feels overwhelming, and I tried, with this poem, to recreate the feeling of being overwhelmed and lost.
