From The Dormer
I overhear the pitter-patter on the roof.
I thought they’d be gunshots,
but they’ve gotten subtler.
Tip-toes that stream like tears
on an indestructible roof.
Well, at least it hasn’t failed me yet.
Rivers run down the valley.
Shingles have done their job.
But somewhere there’s a crack in
disguise, and it’s gotten to
the underlayment.
Malicious spores drift around
that I don’t notice.
I see a crack in the wall that needs
to be fixed.
I don’t have the energy though.
I hang a poster on that wall.
