Having a larger capacity to feel and express emotion are one of the many qualities that make us *superior* to your kind.- Melanie Martinez K-12

I am different isn't it strange?

I like who I like and still get hated on by my own kind.

People say "cheer up" or "don't worry they are just dumb" but they are human,

Just like you and me.

Isn't it strange that I can't be loved by my own kind?

Or someone who walks and talks with their friends?

Or just a stranger you don't know?

Isn't it bizarre that I can't be me?

Just because I am hated by my own kind....

This poem is one of the most meaningful poems I think i wrote.

It explains why I as a trans woman can't be loved as who I am. This poem simply asks if people of LGBT+ are strange? Or are there people who love us?
