a craving
Forever tied down by the bodies left behind
The ones I left blind as the red line took off,
she dropped off the jacket and didn’t look back.
But, Chicago looks almost appealing
without them looking down on me.
Chicago looks appealing
at 30,000 feet.
Chicago looks calm
through the window of an airplane.
Chicago looks not-so-bad
if you catch it at the right time
at the right distance
with a pep talk and pepper spray.
I struggle to remind myself
Chicago only looks appealing as you’re flying away.
Flying to somewhere you’ll want to stay.
