Perfect
6:00am
Snooze your alarm 3 times because no one really wants to wake up at 6
And nobody's
Perfect
6:24am
Lazily roll over and try to get up
Turn the light on even though it hurts your eyes
Like burning your retinas with the sun
In the process, stare at your phone until you absolutely need to get up
6:35am
Head downstairs, chug water, brush your teeth, and your hair
A mangled messy mop that’s hard to tame
all because you slept with wet hair
because you couldn’t be bothered to blow dry it
6:42am
Back upstairs to perfect your face
Mascara, blush, and highlight
Just because I like the sparkles
and don’t forget to cover your blemishes
Gotta make sure you look
Perfect
7:03am
Time to fight through piles of clothes to find the perfect outfit
First outfit
Bad
Second outfit
Still bad
Third outfit
Like the top, Hate the pants
Finally, decide on one that’s good enough
But still not
Perfect
7:14am
Turn on the straightener
Straighten your already straight hair
Just so its
Perfect
7:21am
Finish anything you need to do
Deodorant, body spray, perfume
Curl eyelashes one last time
Just so they’re
Perfect
7:30am
Shoes, lunchbox, water bottle, backpack
Head out the door on your way to school
And pretend to be
Perfect

Hi, I'm Linleigh, I'm a freshman in high school. I am very involved with my school. I'm in my school's band and I play tennis and volleyball. This piece is very real to me and other girls my age. We are pressured to always be perfect. I think social media and societal expectations. I wrote this for class and my teacher really liked it and she recommended I post it here. I hope you like it!
