Falling Petals of Friendship
Violets are blue
Roses are red
Sometimes I think
This “friendships” already dead
I get mixed emotions
when you walk through the door
But to me I’m not surprised
When I’m not the one you're looking for
You’ve changed
Whether you like it or not
It seems to me sometimes
I’m someone you forgot
When I come in
You’re polite and say hey
But when they arrive
It’s as if I went away
I might as well be invisible
Until they aren’t around
It feels like this bitter friendship
Is already six feet underground
Sometimes I feel
As if you don't see
That you not being there
Really hurts me
At this point I’m done
I can't do this anymore
This friendship needs to end
I’m walking out the door
…At least that's what I should do
Yet I still stay
Why? What's wrong with me?
Why can’t I just go away…
I think there's still a part of me
That misses what we used to be
Close friends, together
Loving each other platonically
Those happy memories
Wilting away
Like a rose with no water
On a hot summer's day
Roses are dead
Violets are too
This friendship is rough
Seemingly unbeknownst to you

I wrote this piece so that I could share how I feel when a friendship is falling apart. Friendships are like flowers, if you don't put in the work to keep it going and alive it wilts and can die out. However if you put work into the friendship you can keep that flower alive and it can thrive.
