In The Blink of an Eye
8:00, the first bell rings,
the new school year has come for all.
The freshmen dance from hall to hall,
they cannot wait to see what the year will bring.
3:09, The last bell comes and goes.
Where has all the time gone?
The first year went in a flash,
now it is time for sophomore year at last.
The bell echoes through the halls,
this time it all feels different.
No longer happy freshmen bouncing off walls,
but instead, sophomores who want to run the school.
3:09, the last bell comes and goes.
Where has all the time gone?
The second year went in a flash,
now it is time for junior year at last.
Time for another year yet again,
how have three years up and went?
Junior year is more demanding than the past two.
Senior year is looming, why so scary?
3:09, the last bell comes and goes.
Where has all the time gone?
The third year went in a flash,
now it is time for senior year at last.
They always say, “High school flies”-
from the first day of freshman year,
to the last day of high school.
Yet, one does not acknowledge how fast it truly goes.
3:09, the last bell comes and goes.
Where has all the time gone?
The fourth year went in a flash,
now it is time for graduation at last.
4 years of high school feels like an eternity,
but in the end, it felt like two days.
Friends will fade, but the memories stay
as high school vanishes away.
