The Eagle
Wings spread wide, gliding
Feathers rippling across its body
Sharp eyes scanning across the valley
Deadly talons ready to strike
A scream echos off the hills
A bold white head turns as it searches for prey
Gracefully falling toward the lake
Great claws outstretched
Meeting the water with a splash
Water flying through the air
Creating a hue of colors
Claws, with a fish in tow
Broad, strong wings flapping
As it soars back to a tree
Tall, branches sticking out in jagged ends
Where the graceful creature picks and tears
Apart his catch with his razor-sharp teeth
Feeding its young
The chicks greedily shred
Destroying the prey piece by piece
Leaving nothing behind
But the memory of the deed
Nothing else would know
But the whisper of the wind
And people
Just like eagles
Stinging with their words
Feeding their hurt
Then spread it around
Just like an eagle with its prey
