Ever since youth, too much was asked
Too much was told, too much was forced
Failure isn’t an exception, she wanted success
She strived to be better than the boys in her class
She did what she could and made progress

Moving so fast, no one went at her pace
Learning immediately, learning effectively
Nothing could match the composition of her mind
She burned out quick however
She wanted so much, but it was all left behind

A flower grows with the help of the soil
Help from the sun, and help from the water
Without these things, the flower will die
She couldn’t breathe under the flood
She can’t recover and reach for the sky

Now the flower, part of the earth,
Had too much water, but has dried out
It has decomposed so another can grow
She always thought to focus on one thing
She now thinks her problems were micro


The author's comments:

This piece reflects on how many kids try as hard as they can to be ahead of everyone, but then they can't handle the stress the comes with that. After learning that it wasn't a big deal people are able to heal from what they put themsleves through.
