Dance of Knives
Sharp points ahead glint in the light
Smirk on my face, I feel so ready
One step and another, I know I’m right
So fearful of falling, but I stay steady
A spin, a dodge, a twist
A jump, a roll, a stop
Every word a message shrouded by mist
Every look sent to chop
One wrong word or look or move
I will be sliced up to eat
Must stay balanced and prove
I am not simply a piece of meat
This is the dance of knives
Where everything has a cost
This is our very lives
Where we are all so lost.
