Advice From the Voice In My Head
In a game where stakes are high,
Lay your hand last.
Take tricks with a smile,
And plan to pay them back tenfold.
When lost in the thickets of home,
Search for the light of your sun.
If it is the perpetual darkness of night,
Lanterns and flashlights will do.
Always keep one hand on your rifle,
In case you meet a grinning predator.
If you have no weapon,
Don’t forget your brain at home next time.
Should you blend into your enemies’ contours, never smile-
That is a sign of aggression for all wild animals.
Should you find yourself lost at sea,
Figure out how to reach shore yourself.
Just remember, the monster is much more noticeable
When the waters still.
