Neptune
Have you seen her?
She is beautiful up there where there is no one to hurt her, no one to steal her beauty.
I wish I was like Neptune, no scars to show her pain.
I dream to be as pretty as her, I dream to be wanted and adored.
Instead I am simply Pluto, watching from a distance and those who once loved me cast me away.
They all look at her now.
They say I'm too insignificant, not great enough, too small.
Oh why can't I be like her?
it's cold out here,all alone.
Broken and icy to the core, no fancy rings or embellishments like hers.
I dream to be Neptune, but I am Pluto.
I dream to be beautiful, but I am too tainted, too broken, too cold.
She is beautiful.
I am just Pluto.

This piece was written to demonstrate how it feels to be cast out or excluded. I am a junior in high school who has always done everything to fit in but has gotten stuck in the shadows time after time. In the same way Pluto has met almost every characteristic required to be a planet however falls short and lays in the darkness all alone and small.
