Ages of Life
When we’re budding, life’s like a fun ride
Full of dreams and feelings so wide
But as we grow, time really speeds,
And we see more of what life needs
But even as we get more grey,
There’s beauty in each passing day
Every wrinkle, every tear,
adds to our story, year by year
With silvered hair and weathered face,
a lifetime’s journey, we embrace.
The echoes of youth, now distant chimes
in hearts enriched by countless times
As I sit in the chair of my fallen father,
I realize to he sat in the same spot
Stuck on the thought that life is brief
Everything we fight for we lose
That car we spent a small fortune on
The house that we made with brick and mortar
Will be soon in the hands of another man
Sleeping in our beds, sitting in our chairs
