The flying of kites
Playing catch in the park
Teaching me not to be afraid of the dark
Telling bed time stories
Tucking me in at night
The way he hugs me makes everything seem alright
All those nice things
The things a little girl remembers
None of those happened because in September
He said goodbye and kissed my check
And told me he’d see me next week
Leaving me standing confused at the door
The police found him later that day
Dead in New York
