Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow.

While cleaning my room,
I came upon a box of photos.
Curious, I opened it up,
And my heart stopped at what I saw.

I look at me with you,
Seeming so happy,
Unaware that you would tear my heart
And throw it in the fire.

Unaware that I would be on my knees,
Begging you to stay with me,
And watch you walk away
Without another word.

All you left me with was your single
Backward glance.
In your eyes I saw no mercy,
No sadness,
Just relief that you were rid of me.

Unaware that you would leave me
With the remains of my now torn-up,
Barely holding on heart.

As I stare at the pictures,
I think about what could have been,
Had you not thrown it all away.

My heart aches,
And I wonder if you know
How badly you hurt me,
How much you ripped me
When you left.

I place the box back where
I had found it.
Despite what you did to me,
I still treasure those memories,
Even though they hurt.

I walk away,
And as a single tear
Slides down my cheek,
I wonder if you know
How much I still love you.
