Rendition of Remorse
Wavering lips, tapping feet
As the grass rustles beneath me
As my frown draws wrinkles on my face
The pale face of a guilty pain
Jumpy, not of excitement but
Of a nervous jumble of knots
Teeth-chattering silences
Which can only silence them all
The soft voices in my head…
Eyes, wide-eyed
It’s drawing too near
To eat up my soul
And spit it out
Like a unwanted piece of candy
My frown continues on and on…
I’ve done no wrong
But why these feelings?
There was no other way
But why?
How come I’m encased in a blue, demure state
I’ve done no right
To not tell her of my murderous crime
Still shaky and tears rolling down
I have stumped the greatest of them all
As I fall
And let my hair glisten against the scorched heat
Of the sun that arises above me
Thus…it seems as easy
To release the inner cautions that
Blink back and forth
Stirring with a trace
That can release at any give moment
SNAP! I wake up
Sweaty palms upon my bedspread
As it’s all a nightmare
A nightmarish calamity that sparks into life
